AMLD Africa satellite — Zimbabwe student node

Gweru, Zimbabwe

The role of the first draft is to exist. What started as a blank canvas came to life yesterday in the form of exciting talks and sessions organised by students for the student community. We are greatly indebted to everyone who made this possible. To all the people who came from different parts of the country to organise, attend and speak we truly appreciate the efforts and sacrifices. We also would like to thank the AMLD Africa team for the licence to host our own curated satellite program. Special thanks goes to our sponsors Young AI Leaders Community | Gweru Hub and Evolve Africa ICT Summit for their contributions towards event space, snacks and gifts for keynote speakers. We also appreciate the different communities that came in full force to support us with special mentions to the CUT Data Science Club, Data Science Zimbabwe Midlands State University Chapter, Girls In Tech Zimbabwe Internet Society - Zimbabwe Chapter, AWS Cloud Clubs University of Zimbabwe, Google Developer Groups on Campus Africa University and Uncommon.org. Cheers to more community events in the Data Science, AI and Machine Learning spheres.

1337 Coding School, Morocco

A QUICK LOOK BACK AT AMLD AFRICA 2026 In numbers: • 3 Speakers • 9 Conferences • 3 Judges • 14 Mentors • +35 Participants In brains: • Massive Quick Quiz • Mini games time • Interactive learning • In-depth Networking • Nightly 12h mini-Hackathon In hearts: • Connection • Curiosity • Insight • Endurance • Fulfillment In details: It all started on a Friday night with a fun game and nightly quiz to form teams, followed by a board game night during the Gala Night by LeetsEvents — cozy vibes, fire, and a touch of rain. The next day set the tone with the recitation of Al-Fatiha by Abderrafi Abdeddine for an inspiring journey. We then welcomed our keynote speaker, Mr. Abderrahman Skiredj who showcased impactful projects led by Ministère de la Transition Numérique et de la Réforme de l'Administration. After a coffee break, the day flowed with conferences streamed from AMLD Africa, a hands-on workshop on Antigravity by Pr. Sara El-Ateif, and more insightful talks throughout the morning. After lunch, we dove back in with additional AMLD conferences, followed by a talk on XR applications in IT learning by Houda MOUTTALIB, and a final AMLD conference to wrap up the sessions. Then just after a second coffee break, came the moment everyone was waiting for: The Mini-Hackathon Theme — AI for Student Life. The kick-off was at 7 PM, the hackathon officially launched at 8 PM, and by 8 AM, submissions were already pouring in. The pitching session was a true highlight, and the award ceremony was the rewarding finale to an intense and inspiring experience. Stay tuned—more highlights coming soon!
